Scoreboard Mix-up Costs Aussies Dearly.
A scoreboard mix-up has cost the Australians the one day match against Somerset at Taunton today. Australian bowler, Micheal Kasprowicz, was apparently confused by the way the England run chase was displayed on the board. I spoke with a distraught Kasprowicz after the match and this is what he told me. "I thought I was cruising. Every time I looked at the board I saw the wicket count go up,sometimes by as many as six at a time. I thought maybe we were playing some different rules, you know like Twentywhatsit or something, because I couldn't remember getting any batsmen out. By the time I realised that over here the runs are listed before the wickets, it was too late, they were 6 for 345 and not as I thought 345 for 6."
I won't try to explain Kasprowicz error but needless to say it is by far the most stupid bout of incompetence ever displayed on any sporting field anywhere. For Kasprowicz to think he had taken 89 wickets for 0 runs from 8 overs instead of taking no wickets and being belted for more than 10 an over truly beggars belief. Truly.
